A Little Bit About BOSCO®

Bosco® Chocolate Syrup goes back a long way to 1928. As word has it, Bosco® was developed by a Camden, New Jersey physician and was first sold by the William S. Scull Company. Bosco® still has that same great taste today. In the mid-1950s, Bosco® was sold to Corn Products Company. In 1985, the brand was taken over by Bosco Products, Inc., an independent company based in Towaco, New Jersey, dedicated to providing that old Bosco® feeling and keeping it alive and well in the hearts and stomachs of our youth for all ages.

Bosco® has a rich heritage and carries with it childhood memories for many "Baby Boomers". Countless moms mixed Bosco® and milk for their hungry children arriving home from school over the years with a side dish of cookies, of course. Many "children-at-heart" remember Dick VanDyke, "Tex" Antoine, and Virginia Graham as Bosco® spokespersons, as well as the Bosco® "Chocolateers", Bosco® Clowns, Bosco® Rabbits, Bosco® Bears,..and the list goes on.

Bosco Products is now reviving the brand. A new Bosco® Bear has just been introduced as part of a package re-design, new market channels are now being explored and new product development is now underway.

Where Does BOSCO® Come From?

Many people wonder how we make Bosco® All Natural Chocolate Syrup. Unfortunately, there are not trees that we can tap for chocolate syrup (although that method works well for our maple syrup friends), nor does it flow in secret underground rivers, as in the Willy Wonka movie. We use conventional manufacturing techniques.

We add bulk materials via automatic measuring devices into large stainless steel cooking vats. We blend minor ingredients and flavorings into the batch separately, through a custom blender device, following strict product handling and quality assurance codes.

While in the vats, Bosco® is pasteurized for product uniformity and then cooled for bottling. Computers measure and monitor the product temperatures for perfect cooking.

Bosco® is unique as a chocolate syrup since it has only natural cocoa with absolutely no artificial flavors added. For an extra touch, we also add a malt extract, which combined with the special Bosco® cocoa powder gives us the delicious Bosco® taste generations of "children-at-heart" have grown to love.

Many of our consumers remember the days when Bosco® was packaged in glass jars. As Bosco® has matured, we found the current plastic squeeze bottle to be much more sanitary, easier for consumers to use at home, and a better consumer value overall.

Handy plastic dispenser caps top our bottles along with tamper-evident shrink seals to seal in the Bosco® freshness.

About Cocoa

Cocoa is an important ingredient in BOSCO® and BOSCO® contains only the all natural style (not the Dutch processed by chemical alkalization type).  Cocoa  naturally contains theobromine which increases energy levels while producing euphoric effects without over-stimulating the central nervous or cardiovascular system.  Thus we ave a perfect product; mildly stimulating and you feel great!  Can this be just the euphoric effect of the theobromine in cocoa or can this be utopia??
